Delegations from the USA and China are set to hold a meeting in Switzerland, which is intended to be the first step towards ending the trade war and signing an agreement. The meeting will take place in Geneva this Saturday, with the US delegation represented by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and chief trade advisor Jamison Greer. It is expected that the Chinese delegation will be led by Vice Premier He Lifeng. The purpose of the meeting is to de-escalate the situation before moving forward. Additionally, Bessent and Greer will also meet with the President of Switzerland, Karin Keller-Sutter, to discuss trade issues. President Trump had previously claimed that negotiations with China regarding tariffs were ongoing, but Beijing denied this. Meanwhile, Beijing called on Trump to lift tariffs and “correct mistakes.” At a certain point, Trump is willing to lift tariffs on China.
